Our Story

After years of struggling to have more children, we were heartbroken, defeated, and spiritually crushed. God needed to intervene in a dramatic way to push us into the life He envisioned for our family.

In the midst of this family crisis, God used a couple of strangers from our home church in Minnesota to drag us to Honduras on our very first mission trip. It was with fear and skepticism that we set out for Escuela El Sembrador in the winter of 2009. God was at work revealing His plan and setting in motion a life-changing adventure that we would never forget.

Our call came after a VBS outreach at a nearby village, where we were touched by the children’s response to our lesson about Daniel and the lions. The final confirmation of God’s call came after talking it over with a very excited Nick (our son) at home in Minnesota. As a family, we were all in.

In 2010, we spent an entire year in Honduras as part of WGM’s Missionary Volunteer Partners program. Despite its challenges, our year at El Sembrador was without question the most fulfilling time in each of our lives. Our relationships with the students enabled us to see His grace in our own lives. We left Honduras a spiritually healed family, completely committed to following God’s call. Now, as full-time missionaries, we are excited to be part of God's plan for Honduras.

God answered our many, many prayers for more children—just not in the way we expected. We have been so blessed by the children and youth of Honduras. Our prayer is that God will use our family to speak truth into the lives we touch.
